The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of British Columbia conducted an investigation into an incident involving the serious injury of an adult in the city of West Vancouver. The affected person sustained a serious injury to their head, allegedly while being transported by officers to the police department. The incident occurred in mid-2013. The IIO asserted jurisdiction pursuant to Part 11 of the Police Act, as the incident constituted "serious harm" as defined under that legislation.
