In the afternoon, a person was apprehended by the subject officer under the Mental Health Act. Police had been called to a location in Ottawa about a male behaving strangely. The officer arrived to find the person crying uncontrollably and muttering to himself, making references to wanting to harm himself. The officer took the person into custody without incident. At a hospital, the person became increasingly agitated and was warned that they would be restrained if they did not calm down. When their belligerence continued, the officers attempted to control them, and the person struggled against their efforts. The officers attempted to force the person to the floor, and the person fell, injuring themselves. The person was subsequently restrained to a hospital bed.
