In the morning of early 2026, officers from the OPP were searching in a regional area for a SUV involved in several collisions and operated in a reckless manner. An officer was among those responding to one of the collision scenes when he spotted the SUV and performed a U-turn to follow it. The SUV was stopped, and the officer approached the driver, who was alone in the vehicle. The driver was informed they were being detained, but they refused to exit the vehicle and a struggle ensued. Another officer arrived on scene and assisted in subduing the driver, who was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. The driver was later diagnosed with a fractured right orbital bone at a hospital. The incident is under review.
