The members involved were also using an Automated License Plate Recognition system to monitor passing traffic. Members attempted to stop a truck identified by the system as being associated with a prohibited driver. The truck failed to stop and fled. Two unmarked vehicles attempted to catch up to the fleeing truck but discontinued their attempts shortly thereafter. Within moments, the fleeing truck failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a semi-trailer truck. This collision caused the trailer to collide with a third vehicle driven by the affected person. The person sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and died at the scene.
