Redacted summary

The Military Police Complaints Commission conducted a Public Interest Hearing into Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) investigations surrounding the death of a Canadian Armed Forces corporal at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton in early 2008. Complainants filed a formal complaint in early 2011 alleging deficiencies in the military police investigations and bias. The Commission's Final Report, released in early 2015, found allegations of bias and lack of independence unsubstantiated, but identified significant deficiencies in CFNIS investigations and made 46 recommendations to improve military policing, most of which the Military Police rejected or failed to address.
